NTA NEET UG 2025–2026 Photo Requirements: 4×6 Postcard Size, Passport Size & Left/Right Thumb Impression Rules

A complete breakdown of NTA NEET UG photo guidelines. Learn how to format 4×6 inch postcard photos, passport photos, and both hands finger and thumb impressions accurately.

1. Overview of NTA NEET UG Upload Requirements

The National Testing Agency (NTA) mandates multiple image uploads for NEET UG registration. Failing to provide the correct 4×6 inch postcard photo or smudged thumb impressions is the leading cause of admit card withholding.

Document Type Physical Size Pixels (at 300 DPI) File Size (KB)
Passport Size Photograph 3.5 × 4.5 cm (1.38 × 1.77 in) 413 × 531 px 10 KB to 200 KB
Postcard Size Photograph 4.0 × 6.0 inches (10.16 × 15.24 cm) 1200 × 1800 px 10 KB to 200 KB

Candidate Signature 3.5 × 1.5 cm 200 × 100 px 4 KB to 30 KB

2. Specific Rules for NEET Postcard 4×6 Size Photo

Candidates must ensure that:

  • The photograph is in color with 80% face coverage (showing face from forehead to chin with both ears visible).
  • The background must be pure white. Colored, blue, or patterned backgrounds will be rejected.
  • Candidate Name and Date of taking the photograph must be printed along the bottom edge.
  • The identical postcard photo must be carried to the examination hall for pasting on the attendance sheet.

3. Finger and Thumb Impression Guidelines

NTA mandates capturing impressions of fingers and thumbs of both left and right hands. To ensure zero smudging:

  • Use a high-quality blue or black ink pad.
  • Press lightly onto clean, uncreased white A4 paper. Do not roll or drag your fingers.
  • Use our Thumb Biometrics & Signature Tool to enhance ridge contrast and convert the paper background to pure white.
